There are not enough wonderful things I could say about Cindy and Lilac Thyme. I started riding here when I was 8 as a total beginner. The program here is phenomenal. There is focus not just on riding, but on horsemanship and ground activities as well. Students don't just show up to ride; they are here to learn to be a well-rounded and educated horse-person. Tack and bits, breeds, horse care and management, feeding, and basic veterinary care is all covered in the ground lessons that partner with under saddle lessons. This barn is also not restricted to just 1 discipline. English, Western, Dressage, Saddleseat, Showmanship, Driving, Drill Team and so much more are offered. Moreover, they are willing to work with whatever goals you have. If you want to show, they will work with you to get you in the ring. If you are looking for more recreational lesson, they are more than happy to work with you as well. This is a no-pressure, low-stress environment with the number 1 priority of helping you achieve your equine-related goals-whatever they might be. The school horses are extremely well-taken care of, and LTS has horses to accommodate every level of riding. The facility is beautiful and they are constantly improving the amenities they have to offer. Cindy was a mentor to me after I purchased my first horse. Her knowledge is vast, and her teaching methods versatile to match the student and the horse she is working with. I also attribute LTS and their program to getting me interested in the equine industry. The knowledge, skills and handling I gained during my time there pushed me to really get into the horse world. I chose to pursue an undergraduate degree at a college with a strong equine program because of this, and afterward completing a B.S. with 2 majors, I was accepted to 2 veterinary programs. I am now finishing up my first year at Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine, with an intent to track and hopefully specialize as an equine vet. Because of the way LTS stresses knowledge on the ground and about horses just as much as they do in the saddle, I can definitely say that this barn put me on the track I am on today. Whenever I am in town, my 'home barn' is one of my first stops. The people here have become a second family to me, and have continued to support me in my equine endeavors, even after leaving for undergrad and for vet school. I highly recommend LTS to any budding equestrians out there, no matter your discipline or your skill level. Whether you've never sat on a horse before, are looking to get back in the saddle after a hiatus, or have been riding for a while, LTS can help you out. This barn offers the total package, and gives their students an incredible, well-rounded experience in all things equine.
